National Federation of Independent Business It released its Small Business Optimism Index for August. The consensus call is for a reading of 91.3, slightly lower than July’s figure.

Modern hosts Its 2023 R&D date.
Bureau of Labor Statistics It releases the Consumer Price Index for August. Economists forecast a 3.6% year-over-year increase, up four-tenths of a percentage point from July. Core CPI, which includes variable food and energy prices, is expected to rise 4.4%, following a previous increase of 4.7%. CPI in 2010 That’s nearly six percentage points lower than the June 2022 peak of 9.1%.

Bristol Myers Squibb It hosts the 2023 R&D Day.

European Central Bank Monetary policy decision announced. Traders are pricing in three possibilities for the central bank to raise its key short-term interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point to 4 percent. ECB It raised its target rate from negative 0.5% to 3.75% in just over a year.
Census Bureau reported Retail sales data for August. Consensus estimates are for a 0.2% increase on the month. Excluding autos, retail sales are seen growing by 0.5 percent. This compares to gains of 0.7% and 1% in July.
BLS will be released Producer Price Index for August. PPI is expected to increase 1.4% year-on-year, with core PPI seen gaining 3%. They increased by 0.8% and 2.4% in July.
Friday 9/15
University of Michigan It will release its consumer sentiment index for September. Economists forecast a reading of 69.4, even in August data. In that month, consumer expectations for inflation were 3.5 percent from a year ago.
