The deal will create the largest natural gas utility platform in North America, Calgary-based Enbridge said in a statement Tuesday.
Enbridge’s plans to take over Eastern Ohio Gas Co., Custar Gas Co. and North Carolina Public Service Co. are the latest in Dominion’s corporate review deal. It comes nearly two months after it agreed to sell a $3.3 billion stake in a Maryland liquefied natural gas export project to Berkshire Hathaway Energy.
Dominion shares were up 2.6 percent in afternoon trading.
