As NFL teams prepare to reduce their rosters to 53 players, the Patriots and Browns have traded players who were not likely to make up their previous teams but who might make up their new teams.
Running back Pierre Strong Jr. is on his way to Cleveland and offensive tackle Tyrone Whitley Jr. is on his way to New England after the Browns and Patriots agreed to a trade today.
Strong picked by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He mostly played on special teams as a junior.
Wheatley spent last season on the Browns’ practice squad but never played in a regular season NFL game. He’s the son of Tyrone Whitley, a former Giants first-round pick who spent the past year as the Broncos’ linebackers coach and was hired this year as the head coach at Wayne State.
