The 49ers are currently satisfied with their best quarterbacks. They are currently not satisfied with their two best players, due to both injuries.
With both Jake Moody and Zane Gonzalez at loggerheads, coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters after the end of pre-season on Friday that the team would need a Plan B for Week 1.
Could that mean bringing back Ruby Gold? Shanahan didn’t shut the door on him.
“I’m sure it’s all possible, but these are things we haven’t discussed yet,” Shanahan said.
Moody, according to Shanahan, works from week to week with a four-legged dynasty. “Hopefully he gets a chance for the first week,” Shanahan said. “We’ll see how his body reacts to it.”
Gonzalez probably won’t be ready for the first week either. That means the 49ers will need someone ready to go when they head to the former Heinz Stadium for their September 10 date with the Steelers.
